A Wyoming woman is lamenting the fact that her 7 year-old child, Star, is constantly battling illness. Mary Whilston of Casper, Wyoming seemingly did everything right when it came to health of her only daughter.
“It started before she was even born. I never got the flu shot while I was pregnant, I visited my Naturopath every month, and then I had an unassisted home birth” explains Whilston.
And it didn’t stop there. Whilston has done everything she was supposed to do to keep a child healthy while they are growing up: she is home schooling Star, never gave her any vaccinations, her family doctor is a Homeopathic Doctor and the whole family is practicing Reiki. So you can imagine her surprise when Star came down with whooping cough as an infant.
“We were shocked. We had done everything right” says Whilston.
Star has battled through whooping cough, hand, foot and mouth disease and the chicken pox and seems to perpetually have a cold. Her latest battle is with the measles.
“Again, we are not sure how she even got it. I mean she has been taking all the proper homeopathic and naturopathic remedies, so we’re shocked that she actually has the measles” explains Whilston.
Some extended family members have urged the family to take Star to the local hospital, but the Whilston’s are holding true to their non-scientific beliefs and plan to fight off the disease naturally.
The Spudd asked to speak to Star herself, but she was in the middle of a fevered hallucination and was in the beginning stages of measles-induced blindness.
No word on whether Child Services will be called.
