Hospital administrators vote unanimously to raise hospital administrators salaries

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Hospital administrators at the Philadelphia Hospital for Sick Children voted unanimously today to give themselves a 16% raise, retroactive to July.

“I think the fact that the vote was unanimous just shows how in touch we are with reality,” said hospital CEO Dr. Frank Stone. “I think the American public would agree: if there is one thing that can fix our healthcare system it is more administration and bureaucracy.”

Administrative and medical staff salaries take up roughly 85% of all healthcare budgets across the country and some critics argue reducing the admin and bureaucratic side of healthcare would open up room to employ more nurses, doctors and allow hospitals to purchase better equipment.

“Hospitals are so top heavy with administrators that it takes away from patient care,” says one critic. “We need more nurses and doctors administering vaccines and chemotherapy in order to create lifelong customers, not more pencil pushers.”

Word of the raise is reaching the ears of many other hospitals across the country and hospital administrators from at least 21 other hospitals are planning to look at implementing similar raises in the new year.
