Local parents John and Nancy DeMoss were arrested and charged with child endangerment over the weekend after using a homemade, all-natural carseat for their infant son. The seat consisted of a bed of dried kale and hemp straps. The couple is defending their use of a natural carseat, claiming the government is in league with Big Carma.
“This is a clear case of the government overstepping their bounds” said John DeMoss. “This is reminiscent of Nazi Germany, where the first mandatory carseat laws were established.”
That fact notwithstanding, the carseat industry is one of the most tested and regulated in the country.
“Carseats are designed they way they are for a reason,” said Big Carma spokesman Kevin Golta. “Parents can’t just go and make their own and hope for the best. There are children’s lives at stake.”
Many anti-vaccine all-natural parents are coming to the defense of the couple, believing that natural is always better, regardless of the issue.
“You mean to tell me a carseat made of plastics and chemicals is safer for my child than kale and hemp? Stop drinking the koolaid and wakeup” said anti-science promoter Megan Himer.
