"I'm not anti-vaccine but…" always followed by something anti-vaccine, study finds

In a recent study published in The Lancet, researchers have determined that when someone starts a sentence with “I’m not anti-vaccine but”, it is immediately followed by something anti-vaccine.

“We looked at comments from various social media over the last 6 years and found this to be true in 100% of cases,” said lead researcher Dr. Thomas Fitzgerald. “It is very similar to the “I’m not racist but” phenomenon.”

It is becoming more and more popular for anti-vaccine cult members to try and portray themselves as somewhere in the middle, more “pro-safe vaccine” that anti-vaccine. A tactic that is not lost on the pro-vaccine, pro-science advocates.

“They love to paint themselves as merely concerned about vaccines or some other bs” said Dr. David Werenka of the CDC. “They try to play the innocent card, like all they are doing is looking for answers. But when the answers aren’t what the want, they choose to ignore them.”

The study will be available in next month’s issue.
