MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – Mary Seguin was excited to get a job at a hot new startup in the heart of Silicon Valley. She never imagined that a young, hip company would embrace her gluten-free lifestyle so quickly.
“I expected a lot of push back from co-workers and a lot of judgement, but it just hasn’t happened,” explained Seguin. “I always have my guard up and am ready for when someone at the office judges or oppresses me for my lifestyle choices.”
Sequin, who has no allergy to gluten, has been gluten free for almost two years. Admittedly, she does “cheat” a little bit when no one is around.
“That’s one of the perks of being gluten-free and living alone. I don’t have to be, like, super strict about it” she explained.
As for her employer Pecify (a pectoral implant company), they are fully supportive of Ms. Seguin and insist that they “offer a gluten-free lunch as a company perk.”
Reports indicate that Seguin is still on the hunt for a co-worker who is oppressing her.
