Writing from the year 2095, it is hard to imagine that our grandparents thought vaccines and indoor plumbing were good ideas. We know now that sanitation and vaccines wreaked havoc with our natural immunity and gut microflora leading to an epidemic of now unheard of diseases- such as diabetes, obesity, and Alzheimer’s disease. Once we got rid of the flush toilet and vaccines, these diseases vanished as well.
Still, it is important to try to put ourselves in the shoes of our ancestors. Though we recoil at the thought now, flush toilets were once thought to be a great invention. Our ancestors traded convenience for good health. Similarly, they thought they were protecting themselves from dangerous diseases with vaccines. They did not realize the benefits of natural immunity and the toxicity of vaccine ingredients.
Defecating in a bowl and disposing of human waste in our drinking water has successfully restored out gut flora to its proper health. Similarly, the return of measles, mumps, polio, chickenpox, diphtheria and other diseases to the Western world were a small price to pay to restore our proper relationship with the natural world.
Today, flush toilets and vaccine syringes are nothing more than museum curiosities. We are lucky not to repeat the mistakes of our predecessors.
