Selling stuff: our interview with the producers of the anti-vaxx movie "Bought"

“We Only Wanted People Who Knew How to Sell Stuff: Our Interview With the Producers of the Anti-Vaxx Movie “Bought”

The revolutionary new documentary film “Bought” discusses the corrupting influence of Wall Street on vaccines, GMOs, and Big Pharma. We interviewed the producers.

The Spudd: Your documentary film stars some of the biggest names in alternative medicine. How did you choose who would be in the movie?

Bought: Well as you know our film criticizes how the drive to earn money has negatively influenced vaccines, GMOs, and Big Pharma. So naturally, when choosing people to star in the film, we only wanted people who knew how to sell stuff. So you will notice that all of the stars of our film are also experts in marketing themselves and the many products they sell.

Dr. Toni Bark, for example, has an online store called “Skin and Chocolate.” You can buy her Home Meso Kit for $175.00. Dr. Sherri Tenpenny has made a bundle selling her anti-vaccine DVDs and supplements. Dr. Kelly Brogan has a wide range of corporate connections. She has her own online supplement store at Healthwave, is the medical director for another supplement store (Greenmedmarket), and sits on the medical board on the Fisher-Wallace Stimulator. She did an excellent infomercial for that product which is available for viewing on YouTube. Drs. James Chestnut and Roger Sahoury, both chiropractors, of course also have online stores of their own. So literally every doctor in this movie is also an expert salesperson themselves. They were perfectly positioned to discuss the marketing techniques of the vaccine and food industries.

The Spudd:  Did you reject anyone from starring in this movie?

Bought: When we first thought of this film a number of prominent critics of Big Pharma came to mind. Take Dr. Ben Goldacre, for example, author of the book “Bad Pharma.” He has made scathing critiques of Big Pharma. But after realizing he wasn’t selling anything, other than his book, we realized he was utterly inappropriate for our film. Additionally, he wasn’t interested in being in the film either. All of the stars of our film viewed it as a platform to advertise their products and services. Dr. Goldacre and other mainstream critics of pharma don’t care about that. Again, we were criticizing salespeople and we who better to do that than salespeople?

The Spudd:  Are you happy with the film’s reception?

Bought: Yes and no. We are certainly happy that the flaws of some of these corporations have been exposed. But that was only a very superficial part of the film and one that anyone could have made. Anyone with a deeper understanding would have immediately seen that those people who scream “BIG PHARMA” at every opportunity are in a very real sense financially dependent on their demonization of Big Pharma. Would any of the stars of our film be able to make a living without constantly using Big Pharma as a foil? Of course not. Sadly, that message seems to have been lost on some viewers.
