Responding to parental concern over measles and pertussis outbreaks in the state of California, Santa Monica pediatrician Gordon Seers asked parents “not to freak out.” “The odds of your child catching the disease are very small,” said Dr. Seers, who has not set foot in a hospital for 15 years. “These are mostly harmless diseases anyways,” continued the pediatrician (who would not bear any responsibility for caring for any children were they to become sick with a vaccine-preventable disease).
Speaking from his office where Dr. Seers sees wealthy, cash-paying patients in an atmosphere which boasts of “non-toxic furniture, paint, and textiles to ensure healing and heath,” Dr. Seers told The Spudd that were any of his patients to become ill, “we have vitamins and supplements they can purchase an our online store 24/7.” Dr. Seers, who has not been in the ICU at 2AM caring for an intubated infant with unstable vitals in over 20 years, said that he was confident his vitamin C supplements would be “more than enough” to handle the “mild cough” that is pertussis.
Pediatric ICU doctor Hicks Christopher, who has cared for several children with pertussis this year, defended Seers saying, “It is very hard to remember what it is like to work in a hospital if one has not done it awhile. I’m sure that I could not do what Dr. Seers does at all. For example, if a parent wanted to me to prescribe to the right supplement regimen to heal their child’s GMO-induced leaky gut, I wouldn’t know what to do beyond suggesting they put some breast milk in the kid’s ear.”
