Only 2 hours of internet research needed to become an expert, new study finds

In a groundbreaking new study, researchers have concluded that one can spend as little as two hours of internet research to become an expert in any field. The study looked at how much knowledge one could obtain from various websites and then proceeded to argue online with actual experts. In almost all cases, they “owned” the experts when it came to any debate.

“It was truly remarkable. For example, we googled the dangers of vaccines for a few hours and then were able to completely dominate pro-vaccine doctors and scientists on various social media in numerous arguments,” said Gary, the principal investigator. “We also had similar results when it came to GMOs, climate change and even politics.”

While many people believe that the experts in any field have many, many years of formal education and experience, this study proved that none of that is necessary.

“There really is no need to get degrees and all that fancy stuff,” said Karen, another of the lead investigators. “I spent a few hours on Natural News, Info Wars, Whale To and other similar sites and I can guarantee I know more about the dangers of chemicals than any scientist.”

Of course many experts are disputing the findings, arguing you can’t possibly replace higher education with Google. The authors aren’t surprised:

“Of course they are going to say this study is not true, their livelihoods depend on it. But we spent at least two hours writing it and we are the experts now,” said Gary. “NOT them.”
