SAN JOSE, CA – Local woman Chelsea Darling, 29, has just been told by doctors that she is allergic to gluten-free food.
“It’s a huge shock and pretty scary to be honest,” said Darling. “I’m worried that by the time I get into my 40’s and 50’s, there won’t be any food left with gluten in it.”
Doctors are trying to confirm whether or not this is the first known case of gluten-free allergy.
“As far as we know, Ms. Darling is the first case of GFA we have seen in the USA and possibly the world” said Dr. Grant Hiscock, allergist. “We are currently conferring with our international colleagues to confirm.”
If more people come down with GFA it could pose a serious problem as more and more food retailers are stocking the shelves with gluten-free foods.
“If the current rate of increase in gluten-free foods continues, all food in grocery stores will be gluten-free by the year 2025,” said Andrew Wakefield, former doctor, conspiracy theorist and statistics flounderer.
Doctors are recommending that if you feel sick after eating any gluten-free products to see your doctor immediately.
