BRAZIL – The World Health Organization admitted this morning that they are still no closer to understanding the cause in the rise of the Zika virus and in turn the rise in micro-encephalitis in newborns.
“At this point we are still unsure if the virus and birth defects are being caused by vaccines or by GMO mosquitoes released into the wild last year,” said WHO spokesman Dr. Francois Bouillon. “We are doing everything we can to get to the bottom of this.”
Reports indicate several WHO employees are reading every conspiracy blog on the internet to try and ascertain the real cause of the virus.
“We know from the Harvard report that internet commenters are more knowledgeable than we are, so it only makes sense to use that resource,” said Dr. Bouillon.
At this point it seems as though conspiracy theorists are split between vaccines and GMOs being the cause, which had lead to the rare incidence of in-fighting.
“The GMO mosquitoes are NOT the cause of this, it is clearly vaccines. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just plain ignorant and need to do some more research,” said Jeff Smith, anti-vaccer and internet-verbal-diarrhea-spreader.
The WHO is hoping to release an updated report on the cause of the virus and birth defects early next week.
