A light musical comedy, based on the life of Andrew Wakefield opened at the New Charlatan Theatre last weekend. Wakefield is a brave maverick doctor who made it his life’s mission to rid the world of herd-immunity. The title character is deftly portrayed by Jim Carey as a charming rapscallion with boyish good looks.

In one of the more effective comedic turns, Wakefield breaks the fourth wall and delights the sold-out audience with stories of children fainting and vomiting as their blood was drawn after he conscripted them into research without necessary ethical approvals.

The cast brought the audience to its feet with a rousing final song and dance number: “Measles-Schmeasels.”
