Researchers confirm their belief that confirmation bias is most common bias

CHICAGO, IL – A new study out of the Chicago University Department of Statistics shows that confirmation bias is the most common bias found in both academic literature and social media.

“We were pretty sure our hypothesis was correct and we designed a study to prove it,” said principal investigator Dr. Tom Habbaford. “Sure enough our data proved that confirmation bias is incredibly rampant in today’s society.”

The study looked at literature in various academic fields as well as social media comments and posts.

The authors of the study focused on alternative medicine and anti-vaccine articles and studies, a known source of confirmation bias. They found that 100% of all alternative medicine studies had methodology and study designs that lent themselves towards positive outcomes that the researchers were hoping for.

“We excluded all known sources of other types of bias in order to confirm that our pre-determined confirmation was correct about confirmation bias.”
