In a recent study published in the Lancet, homeopathic treatment along with standard medical treatment was just as effective as standard treatment alone.
In a randomized-control trial of over 468 patients, 236 were treated with triptans (serotonin receptor agonists) for treatment of migraine headaches. The other 232 patients were given 30c Glonoine homeopathic tablets as well as triptans.
Both groups were followed for 12 months with migraine frequency and migraine relief reported. Patients kept a journal of migraine frequency and migraine relief after using their intervention. Treatment effectiveness was measured on a scale of 1-5: 1 being no migraine relief at all and 5 being complete migraine relief.
Both groups reported similar migraine frequency (~2.5 migraines per month) and both groups reported similar treatment effectiveness (homeopathic and triptan group: 3.5/5; triptan only group: 3.7/5; [95% confidence interval (CI) 2.2-4.0], p < 0.001).
The lead author, Mr. Paul Thirrault states in the conclusion of the study that unequivocally, “homeopathic treatment along with standard medical treatment is as effective as standard medical treatment alone”.
