New cancer treatment cleared by FDA has internet commenters in glee

A new cancer treatment has recently been approved by the FDA to continue medical trials, at the small cost of around $100,000 per patient. A Texas clinic has been re-opened and allowed to continue using their controversial antineoplastons cancer treatment; while technically the treatment is completely useless, does not help fight off cancer, and was directly responsible for recently killing a child, internet commenters everywhere are rejoicing.

“This just goes to show that if you fight hard enough, even Big Pharma can’t keep every cancer cure down” says health website commenter Becky, who goes by the handle ‘911wasinsidejob’.

The story has been picked up USA Today, CNN and numerous health websites with the words “natural”, “green” and “truth” in them. Almost all the comments on the story ring the same: “finally the big bad gubmint and Big Pharma got defeated.”

Even though this cancer treatment has never been proven to work, trial results never published and the man behind it all – a Polish doctor named Stanislaw Burzynski – is making millions of dollars off of grieving families, it seems that all it takes is any kind of health story against Big Pharma to bring the worst internet commenters out of the woodwork.
