Leonard Replogle dropped into a local independent bookstore seeking a fun diversion for his recently-unemployed friend.

“I thought some Far-Side cartoons, or You Might be a Redneck jokes would cheer him up.”

He searched every shelf but nothing tickled his funny-bone.

“None of those crystal books or that Chopra crap were remotely funny. I talked to the owner, and he couldn’t think of one book to cheer up my friend.”

The Science Post contacted Mason Steinert, proprietor of the New-Age Healing Bookstore and Crystal Shop and asked if he had plans to expand his inventory to include humorous selections. Steinert explained: “We are in the very serious business of helping our customers bring their lives and health into balance. There is no room for levity in a place like this.”
