A local man had to be rushed to emergency room in Spokane, Washington yesterday afternoon after being bitten in the face by a horse. Mitch Cheval received 11 stitches to his mouth and lip after the horse chomped at his face. The horse, which belonged to Cheval’s neighbor, was holding a gift in his mouth for the man.
“The horse had a small package in his mouth which was wrapped up and had a bow on it. I took it out of his mouth and saw that it was a gift from my neighbor. That’s when things went wrong,” explained Cheval.
“I decided after I got the gift that it was a little weird, so I kind of just stared at this gift horse’s mouth, and that’s when it bit me,” said Cheval.
The neighbor, Clyde Dale, said he had trained the horse to hold presents in its mouth. “I always wanted a gift horse,” said Dale.
This is not Mr. Cheval’s first run in with an animal. He had to be air lifted to the emergency room last year after he attempted to trap a wild leopard in an effort to change its spots.
