Hipsters starting to graduate med school, hospitals seeing huge rise in record players, scarves and beards

BOSTON, MA – There’s no denying it – it’s getting to the point where many of the people graduating medical school are hipsters. The bearded ones are known for bringing their unique style of similarity every where they go, including hospitals and offices.

5134584689_9137085ec8Reports indicate that hipster MD’s are ditching the stethoscope in favor of any oversized scarf and buying used record players to put in their offices.

“I don’t see why just because I’m a doctor now doesn’t mean I can’t be myself,” said Dr. Felix Gill, recent graduate. “I still want to express myself by wearing a huge scarf, small glasses and listening to records. You know, be super unique.”

Several of the male hipster MD’s we spoke to were also sporting hair buns and carrying around Walkmans; apparently wearing a pager was not retro enough.

“We have several new graduates come through our family medicine program every year, and every year we have a wide range of personalities, ” said Dr. Dane Simmons, chief of family medicine. “Recently we have been seeing more and more of this same unique type of person.”

It was really only a matter of time until more and more hipsters found their way into medicine. So if you are heading to your family doctor or the hospital anytime soon, be prepared for beards, glasses, giant scarves, manbuns and perhaps some 70s jazz.
