PARIS, FRANCE – The French government passed a bill this week which will require all parents of unvaccinated children to be infected with whatever vaccine-preventable disease their child contracts.
“Childhood vaccinations are a law in France, but some parents still refuse to have their children vaccinated,” explained Dr. Drake Remoré of The French Institute of Public Health Surveillance. “With this new law, the parents of any child who refuse vaccines for non-medical reasons and then contracts a disease (for example measles, rubella, etc.) will then be infected with the same disease. Both the child and parents must remain isolated for up to 1 month.”
The move has had mixed reactions from the anti-vaccine movement which feels the law is a violation of their rights, but also feel it is beneficial since parents will now get natural immunity as well as the child.
“The law is kind of a catch 22,” said Jason Gordon, anti-vaccer. “While I think punishing parents who have done their research on vaccines deplorable, in the long run they will benefit by getting natural immunity to the disease.”
The new law will take effect next month.
