Anti-Vaccer’s logic so horribly twisted, he concludes vaccinating children makes sense

In a unique example of two wrongs making a right, former militant anti-vaccer Joe Maksell decided to vaccinate his children last week. Mr. Maksell had been adamantly opposed to vaccines for several reasons, ranging from his belief that they caused neurodevelopmental disorders to the fact that individual vaccine makers cannot be sued. However, two beliefs convinced Mr. Maksell to vaccinate his children.

The first of these was that it is the vaccinated children who are getting sick. “I looked at the numbers, and in a recent pertussis outbreak of 100 kids, 52 of them had been vaccinated. So I know that actually getting the vaccine puts kids at risk for the disease.”

The second belief was his conviction that natural immunity to infectious diseases is actually beneficial. “We co-evolved with these diseases. Nature would not have intended us to get them were there no benefit. Viruses and bacteria are nothing to be afraid of,” said Mr. Maksell. “And since it is the vaccinated kids getting these diseases, the only logical conclusion one can make is that vaccinating my kids is the obvious thing to do.”

“Hey, it makes as much sense as anything I have heard an anti-vaccer say,” said Mr. Maksell’s pediatrician Dr. Kate Nalts.
