Ancient Egyptian papyrus found to contain first description of leaky gut syndrome

Archaeologists in Cairo announced on Tuesday the discovery of a papyrus engraving which contains the first known description of leaky gut syndrome. The papyrus was discovered last year in a small antechamber in an area known as the Valley of Kings.

According to Yaser Ij from the Cairo Museum, the 4,000 year-old text perfectly describes an epidemic of royals who suffered symptoms including bloating, gas, cramps, food sensitivities, and aches and pains.

“The ancients were vastly ahead of their time in terms of their medical knowledge,” Ij told The Spudd. “The parchment perfectly describes the symptoms of leaky gut syndrome and then correctly speculates that the cause is due to increased intestinal permeability or intestinal hyperpermeability.”

Though doubted by mainstream medicine for years, leaky gut syndrome, along with toxins, is now universally accepted to be the cause of all disease. The syndrome occurs when tight junctions in the gut, which control what passes through the lining of the small intestine, don’t work properly. This let toxins leak into the bloodstream.

“Though they obviously did not have GMOs or vaccines, the major cause of leaky guy syndrome today, the onset of this epidemic occurred at the same time this culture was making wheat a staple of their diet,” said Ij. “Wheat and gluten are potent activators of leaky gut syndrome and likely led to the collapse of this once great civilization.”
